3G CDMA Network Shut off date set for December 31, 2022
Verizon will decommission its 3G CDMA network and shut it off on December 31, 2022. The company initially planned to shut down the network in 2019, but extended the shut off date to minimize disruptions to its customers as they transition to 4G and 5G technologies. Verizon has provided updated devices and worked to help 3G device users transfer to 4G or 5G devices. As of now, 99% of its customers are using 4G or 5G. Customers who still have 3G devices may experience a degradation or complete loss of service as the shut off date approaches, and Verizon's service centers will only be able to offer limited help with these devices.
