The EU is creating a Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) to boost manufacturing capacity in digital and clean technologies (including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and 5G) and biotechnologies and to address labor and skill shortages in these sectors. This platform will aim to strengthen value chains and support the strategic sovereignty of the EU. The EU's main strategic goals are to strengthen the competitiveness of the European economy towards green and digital transformations.
